Heating Oil Partners requests 90-day exclusivity extension

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Jan. 17 - Heating Oil Partners, LP requested an extension to its exclusive periods to file a plan of reorganization and solicit votes on the plan, according to a Monday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Connecticut.

The company wants to extend its exclusive plan filing period to May 25 from Jan. 24 and the solicitation period to July 24, 2006 from April 25.

According to the motion, the extension is necessary because of the size and complexity of the case.

Heating Oil said it recently appointed a chief restructuring officer, adding the official committee of unsecured creditors was just appointed and is currently conducting due diligence on the company's case.

Heating Oil Partners filed for Chapter 11 on Sept. 26. Its case number is 05-51271.

The residential heating oil distributor, the operating subsidiary of Toronto-based Heating Oil Partners Income Fund, also has filed in Canada under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act.
