S&P affirms HealthNow New York

Standard & Poor's said it affirmed its BBB- counterparty credit and financial strength ratings on HealthNow New York Inc., which does business as BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York and BlueCross BlueShield of Northeastern New York.

The outlook remains stable.

S&P added that the ratings are based on HealthNow's good operating performance, good capitalization and leading market position in its core market of Western New York, noting that the highly competitive and economically challenged regional market and the tough political and regulatory environments in which the company operates offset these positive factors.
