HCP files automatic shelf covering stock, preferreds, debt securities

Knoxville, Tenn., July 24 - HCP, Inc. filed an automatic shelf registration in an S-3 ASR filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The registration covers common stock, preferred stock, depositary shares, debt securities and warrants.

The securities may be structured as convertibles.

The company will describe in a prospectus supplement how it plans to use the proceeds.

The REIT for the health care industry is based in Long Beach, Calif.
