Moody's may up some Hong Kong banks

Moody's Investors Service said it has placed the constrained A1 foreign currency deposit ratings of Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corp., Hang Seng Bank, DBS Bank (Hong Kong) Ltd., Bank of America (Asia) Ltd. and Westpac Banking Corp., Hong Kong branch, on review for possible upgrade.

Ratings affected are: The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corp.'s A1 long-term foreign currency deposit rating; Hang Seng Bank's A1 long-term foreign currency deposit rating; DBS Bank (Hong Kong) Ltd.'s A1 long-term foreign currency deposit rating; Bank of America (Asia) Ltd.'s A1 long-term foreign currency deposit rating; and Westpac Banking Corp., Hong Kong Branch's A1 long-term foreign currency deposit note rating.
