Hampton Roads raises $30.3 million through private placement of shares

Investors are Carlyle Financial Services, Anchorage and CapGen Capital

Knoxville, Tenn., Sept. 27 - Hampton Roads Bankshares, Inc. said it raised $30.3 million through a private placement of stock and $14.7 million in a rights offering. The placement priced for up to $50 million on May 21, the same day the rights offering priced.

The company sold 43,287,161 common shares at $0.70 per share in the placement and 21,000,687 shares at the same price in the rights offering. The price per share is a 78.72% discount to the May 18 closing share price.

The placement investors were The Carlyle Group, LP, Anchorage Capital Group, LLC and CapGen Capital Group VI LP.

Hampton Roads, located in Norfolk, Va., is the financial holding company for Bank of Hampton Roads and Shore Bank.
