Moody's changes Guatemala view to negative

Moody's Investors Service said it changed the outlook on the government of Guatemala to negative from stable. Moody's affirmed Guatemala's Ba1 issuer and senior unsecured bond ratings.

In explaining the outlook revision, Moody’s cited the credit impact of the pandemic-related deterioration in debt metrics, which is exacerbated by Guatemala’s limited revenue base and the limited ability to reverse the deterioration in Guatemala's credit profile and bring government debt metrics in line with its peers.
