GS Finance plans leveraged notes tied to S&P 500 index

Columbus, Ohio, Jan. 16 – GS Finance Corp. plans to price 0% leveraged notes due March 4, 2021 linked to the S&P 500 index, according to a 424B2 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

If the index return is positive, the payout at maturity will be par plus 2 times the index return, subject to a maximum settlement amount of $1,110 per $1,000 principal amount of notes. Investors will be exposed to any index decline.

The notes will be guaranteed by Goldman Sachs Group, Inc.

Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC is the underwriter.

The notes are expected to price Jan. 27.

The Cusip number is 40056YB86.
