GS Finance plans leveraged buffered notes linked to S&P 500

Olympia, Wash., Feb. 25 – GS Finance Corp. plans to price 0% leveraged buffered notes due March 15, 2021 linked to the S&P 500 index, according to a 424B2 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The notes will be guaranteed by Goldman Sachs Group, Inc.
If the index return is positive, the payout at maturity will be par plus 1.5 times the index return, subject to a maximum settlement amount expected to be $1,165 per $1,000 of notes. Investors will receive par if the index declines by 20% or less and will lose 1% for every 1% that the index declines beyond 20%.
Goldman Sachs & Co. is the underwriter.
The notes are expected to price March 7.
The Cusip number is 40056EXX1.
