GS Finance plans leveraged buffered notes due 2020 linked to S&P 500

Olympia, Wash., Jan. 11 – GS Finance Corp. plans to price 0% leveraged buffered notes due April 30, 2020 linked to the S&P 500 index, according to a 424B2 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The notes will be guaranteed by Goldman Sachs Group, Inc.
If the index return is positive, the payout at maturity will be par plus 1.5 times the index return, capped at par plus 18.525%. Investors will receive par if the index declines by 10% or less and will lose 1% for every 1% that the index may decline beyond 10%.
Goldman Sachs & Co. is the underwriter.
The notes are expected to price on Jan. 25.
The Cusip number is 40056ETJ7.
