New Issue: GS Finance sells $38.07 million leveraged notes linked to Technology Select stocks

Morgantown, W.Va., Jan. 23 – GS Finance Corp. priced $38.07 million of 0% leveraged notes due July 24, 2019 linked to an unequally weighted basket of the stocks of the 71 companies included in the Technology Select Sector index, according to a 424B2 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The notes are guaranteed by Goldman Sachs Group, Inc.
The payout at maturity will be par plus 1.5 times any basket gain, subject to a maximum settlement amount of $1,212.25 per $1,000 principal amount. Investors will share fully in losses.
The basket was selected on Dec. 31 and includes all of the constituents of the index at that time. The initial weight of each basket stock is equal to its weight in the index as of Dec. 31. However, the basket stocks and their initial weights will differ from the index constituents and their weights in the index throughout the life the notes, and the performance of the basket may not correlate with the performance of the index.
