GS Finance to price leveraged buffered notes linked to S&P 500 index

Knoxville, Tenn., May 9 – GS Finance Corp. plans to price 36- to 39-month 0% leveraged buffered notes linked to the S&P 500 index, according to a 424B2 filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The notes are guaranteed by Goldman Sachs Group, Inc.
If the index return is positive, the payout at maturity will be par plus 150% of the index return, subject to a maximum payout that is expected to be between $1,274.50 and $1,322.50 and will be set at pricing. Investors will receive par if the index declines by 15% or less and will lose 1.1765% for every 1% decline beyond 15%.
