By Paul A. Harris

St. Louis, Mo., July 24 - Official price talk is 8 5/8%-8 7/8% on Greif Bros. Corp.'s planned sale of $300 million of 10-year senior subordinated notes (B2/B+), according to a syndicate source. The deal is expected to price Thursday.

Salomon Smith Barney is the bookrunner.

The Rule 144A/Reg S deal is coming in dollar and euro tranches, the sizes of which remained to be determined at press time Wednesday.

The notes are non-callable for five years.

The Delaware, Ohio industrial container producer will use proceeds to refinance debt.
