Midday Commentary: Investor demand still strong; primary sees Rule 144A deals

By Aleesia Forni

Columbus, Ohio, Sept. 20 - The rush of issuers coming to the investment-grade market continued on Thursday in the primary, while the secondary market environment is still "risk-on."

"I really don't see [investor] demand going anywhere," one trader said at midday, referring to the continuing strong interest in new deals.

Though the primary market saw more Rule 144A and foreign deals versus the Securities and Exchange Commission-registered offerings seen previously this week, primary activity remained strong.

Among the names announcing Thursday were Anglo American Capital plc, Schneider Electric SA, and National Australia Bank.
