S&P: Great Plains Energy unaffected

Standard & Poor's said its ratings on Great Plains Energy Inc. (BBB/stable/--) will not be affected by softening gross margins on new business at retail energy marketing subsidiary Strategic Energy.

The reduction is consistent with S&P's expectation of near-term compression in gross margins due to the current market environment.

The ratings on Great Plains Energy are based on conservative assumptions for both the holding company and its subsidiaries, S&P said.
