A&P net loss falls to $25.04 million for period of Oct. 9-Nov. 5

Wilmington, Del., Dec. 5 - The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., Inc. (A&P) reported a net loss of $25.04 million on sales of $511 million for the period of Oct. 9 through Nov. 5, according to the company's monthly operating report filed Monday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

The figures compare to a net loss of $36.48 million on sales of $524.75 million for the period of Sept. 11 to Oct. 8.

The company also reported cash and cash equivalents of $234.07 million as of Nov. 5, down from $234.36 million on Oct. 8, according to court documents.

A&P is a Montvale, N.J.-based operator of supermarkets. The company filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 12, 2010 under Chapter 11 case number 10-25459.
