Gabelli, Gamco up stake in A&P to 9.65%

Tacoma, Wash., March 12 - Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., Inc. investors led by Gabelli Funds, LLC and Gamco Asset Management Inc. purchased a net 129,300 shares of the company's stock in a series of buy and sell transactions between Jan. 29 and Wednesday.

The shares were priced from $3.10 to $7.95 each, according to a schedule 13D/A filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The investors beneficially own 5,606,088 shares, or 9.65%, of the Montvale, N.J.-based supermarket chain.

In January, the investors reported ownership of a 9.43% stake in the company.
