Goody's hires Streambank to market, sell intellectual asset portfolio

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, March 31 - Goody's, LLC has hired intangible asset consulting firm Streambank LLC to market and sell the intellectual asset portfolio of Goody's Family Clothing, according to a Streambank news release.

As previously reported, Goody's announced in January that it would liquidate its 282 remaining stores.

"Goody's Family Clothing offers a unique and valuable trademark portfolio, including the storied Duck Head brand," Streambank managing member Gabe Fried said in the release.

"These brands, especially the Goody's name, fill a valuable niche in the apparel retail landscape and represent an opportunity for newcomers or existing firms to grow market share and margin quickly."

According to the release, Streambank recently launched the marketing process, and an auction date will be determined soon.

Goody's, a Knoxville, Tenn., family apparel retailer, filed for bankruptcy on Jan. 13 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. Its Chapter 11 case number is 09-10124.
