By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, May 27 – Goodrich Petroleum Corp.’s official committee of unsecured creditors requested court approval to hire Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP as its counsel, according to a motion filed Friday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.

If approved, Akin Gump’s hiring will be retroactive to April 27.

As counsel, the firm will assist the committee with negotiations, claims analysis, investigations, preparation of court documents, hearing representation and creditor communications.

The current hourly rates for Akin Gump’s paraprofessionals and professionals range from $210 per hour to $1,425 per hour.

Goodrich, a Houston-based oil and gas exploration and production company, filed bankruptcy on April 15. The Chapter 11 case number is 16-31975.
