GS Finance plans to price leveraged buffered notes linked to EM index

Olympia, Wash., Jan. 4 – GS Finance Corp. plans to price 0% leveraged buffered notes due in 36 months linked to the MSCI Emerging Markets index, according to a 424B2 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The notes will be guaranteed by Goldman Sachs Group, Inc.
If the index return is positive, the payout at maturity will be par plus two times the index return, capped at par plus 45.75%. Investors will receive par if the index declines by 20% or less and will lose 1.25% for every 1% that the index may decline beyond 20%.
Goldman Sachs & Co. is the underwriter.
The Cusip number is 40056EQY7.
