GS Finance plans leveraged buffered notes due 2023 linked to S&P 500

Tacoma, Wash., Dec. 1 – GS Finance Corp. plans to price 0% leveraged buffered notes due Jan. 3, 2023 linked to the S&P 500 index, according to a 424B2 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The notes will be guaranteed by Goldman Sachs Group, Inc.
If the index return is positive, the payout at maturity will be par plus 125% to 135% of the index return. The exact participation rate will be set at pricing. Investors will receive par if the index declines by 15% or less and will lose 1% for every 1% that the index may decline beyond 15%.
Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC is the underwriter.
The notes are expected to price Dec. 28.
The Cusip number is 40055A6Q5.
