New Issue: Goldman prices $8.2 million buffered basket-linked notes on S&P 500, MSCI EAFE indexes

New York, Jan. 4 - Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. priced $8.2 million of 0% buffered basket-linked notes due Oct. 13, 2011 tied to equal weights of the S&P 500 index and the MSCI EAFE index, according to a 424B2 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The payout at maturity will be par plus any basket gain, capped at 6.5%. Investors will receive par if the basket falls by up to 15% and will lose 1.1765% for every 1% decline beyond 15%.

Goldman, Sachs & Co. is the underwriter.
