GoldenTree Asset names Tom Hajdukiewicz as retail portfolio manager

By Devika Patel

Knoxville, Tenn., May 1 - GoldenTree Asset Management said it has hired Tom Hajdukiewicz as a portfolio manager, focusing on investment opportunities in the consumer and retail sectors.

He will report to chief executive officer and chief investment officer Steve Tananbaum.

Hajdukiewicz has more than 20 years of investing experience. Prior to joining GoldenTree, he was the chief investment officer/principal at Goldenhawk Capital Management, LLC, a Pittsburgh-based event-driven, absolute return fund focusing on high-yield bonds, convertible securities, preferred stock, equity and distressed debt.

Prior to that, he was a portfolio manager at Citigroup Investments and MacKay Shields. While at MacKay Shields, Tom worked for two years with Tananbaum.

Hajdukiewicz earned a bachelor's in business administration from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, and is a CFA charterholder.

"I'm excited to be working with Tom once again," Tananbaum said in a press release. "Tom is a highly skilled investor with experience making investments across the capital structure, particularly in high yield debt. Tom's expertise and network of contacts will be invaluable to us as we pursue our strategy going forward. Tom and I enjoyed very good chemistry and results when we worked together at MacKay. I look forward to picking up where we left off."

The investment firm is based in New York.
