ResCap files $12.5 billion shelf registration

Philadelphia, May 22 -- Residential Capital Corp. (ResCap), the mortgage lending unit of GMAC LLC, filed a $12.5 billion shelf registration in a S-3ASR filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The registration covers senior debt securities and subordinated debt securities.

Proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes, including repaying debt.
