By Toni Weeks

San Luis Obispo, Calif., May 23 - Global X Funds announced in an N-1A filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission its plans to launch the Global X Emerging & Frontier Bond exchange-traded fund.

The ETF will seek to provide a high level of total return consisting of both income and capital appreciation. It will normally invest at least 80% of its total assets in fixed-income instruments of varying maturities issued by government, corporate and/or other issuers domiciled in emerging and frontier countries. Designed to provide exposure to local-currency and eurobond fixed-income instruments, the fund intends to focus its investment on fixed-income securities issued by emerging market governments, government agencies and corporations.

Bruno del Ama, Jose C. Gonzalez, Luis Berruga and Chang Kim will comprise the portfolio management team.

The ticker symbol, management fee and total annual fund operating expenses have not yet been set.

New York-based Global X Management Co. LLC will be the investment adviser to the fund.
