Global Geophysical committee gets court OK to hire legal counsel

By Kali Hays

New York, May 20 - Global Geophysical Services Inc.'s official committee of unsecured creditors received court permission to hire Greenberg, Traurig, LLP as its legal counsel during the company's Chapter 11 case, according to a Tuesday order with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.

The hiring is retroactive to April 9.

The committee selected Greenberg as it has experience in representing committees of unsecured creditors in complex reorganization cases and in appearing before Texas courts.

While handling all of the committee's legal needs and appearing in court proceedings, Greenberg will also analyze the company's proposed financing and assist in the committees negotiations with creditors, according to the motion.

Greenberg agreed to a 10% discount on the regular hourly rates of its employees that range between $400 and $860.

Global Geophysical, a Missouri City, Texas-based provider of seismic data services to the oil and gas industry, filed bankruptcy on March 25. The Chapter 11 case number is 14-20130.
