FTN Financial hires three specialists and three traders for municipals

Kansas City, Kan., July 9 - FTN Financial has added three professionals to its municipal bond group and three traders to its municipal products group, according to a news release.

The municipal bond group hires include Jack Flynn and Mark Droumbakis from Citigroup and Pat Gray from Morgan Stanley. All three have more than 15 years each of experience in municipals.

The municipal products group hires include Hank Tansey, Kevin Fitzpatrick and JP Zaptin. Tansey has a background in bank-qualified underwriting and trading. Zaptin will work with general market sector maturities of 10 to 20 years, and Fitzpatrick will focus on general market sector maturities of 20 years or more as well as institutional taxable municipal bonds.

"Our focus on the municipal bond sector represents a very important strategic initiative for FTN Financial," president Michael E. Kisber said in the release. "We believe that our unique distribution platform fills a real client need in this market in particular. We anticipate future announcements as we continue to add to the components of this effort, including additions in trading, sales, underwriting and credit analytics."
