M.R. Beal adds James Cortese to fixed-income sales and trading group

San Diego, May 9 - M.R. Beal & Co. said that James Cortese has joined the firm's fixed-income sales and trading department as a senior vice president and underwriter.

With more than 25 years of municipal sales experience, Cortese joins the firm from Sterne, Agee & Leach, where he was managing director of underwriting, trading and sales. Prior to that, he was a managing director at UBS Securities Bank and a senior vice president at Kemper Securities.

"Jamie is a very significant and strategic hire for us," vice chairman and chief operating officer Stan Grayson said in a company news release. "He is well known and respected in the industry and will play an integral role as we expand and nurture our municipal business activities."

Based in New York, M.R. Beal is an investment bank focusing on municipal and corporate finance, taxable and tax-exempt fixed-income sales and trading, and equity sales and trading.
