Cantor Fitzgerald enters municipal bond market with team of new hires

Milwaukee, Jan. 26 - Cantor Fitzgerald & Co. announced it has hired William O'Keefe as senior managing director and department head of the municipals desk as part of the firm's entry into the municipal bond and public finance business.

Previously, O'Keefe was with Morgan Stanley and has been on the Municipals Securities Rulemaking Board. He is a former chairman of the Bond Market Association's municipal securities division and a founding member of MuniCenter. O'Keefe has a degree from St. Michaels College.

Seven other senior municipal bond professionals have also joined Cantor's municipals team. They are David McMahon, Sandy Carrithers, Chris Grinnell, Elizabeth Andreev, Steve Kennedy, Kevin Steinhauer and Mike Allen.

McMahon will be leading the sales effort with his sales and management experience at Morgan Stanley. Carrithers has had experience in trading, sales and public finance at Citigroup and PaineWebber. Grinnell joins with sales experience from Morgan Stanley. Kennedy was previously with Sovereign Securities and Commerce Capital Markets. Andreev joins from Susquehanna International Group where she was a municipal bond trader and market maker for municipal bond ETFs.

Already working at Cantor are Steinhauer and Allen, who have overseen Cantor's municipal trading activities since 2004.
