By Devika Patel

Knoxville, Tenn., May 21 - Perella Weinberg Partners said in a press release that it has hired managing director Richard J. Shinder and director Agnes K. Tang in its financial restructuring group.

Shinder has over 15 years of restructuring and distressed investing experience, having executed a broad range of complex restructuring advisory assignments for debtor, creditor and financial sponsor clients.

He joins Perella from Goldman Sachs, where he was a senior member and founder of distressed principal investing in the Americas special situations group. Prior to that, he spent 10 years as a restructuring advisor, primarily as a managing director in Blackstone's restructuring and reorganization advisory group.

Shinder has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Gonzaga University and a master's in business administration from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Tang has over 10 years of investment banking and management consulting experience, most recently as a senior member of Houlihan Lokey's financial restructuring group where she worked seven years, focusing on restructuring transactions representing both companies and creditors across a variety of industries.

Tang has a bachelor's from Northwestern University and a master's in business administration from Harvard Business School.

"A core part of our corporate advisory business, our restructuring practice is committed to providing clients with high quality independent advice from trusted, senior professionals," chairman and chief executive officer Joseph Perella said in the release.

"Restructuring is an increasingly critical area of expertise in the current economic environment, and we are pleased to continue to attract top-tier professionals with deep restructuring experience to advise our clients in distressed situations. The combination of our global network and the talented professionals we have in the advisory and restructuring groups has uniquely positioned our firm to service the developing needs of our clients."

Perella Weinberg Partners is a leading financial services firm with offices in London and New York. Its financial restructuring group was formed in January 2007 when the firm acquired the business of Kramer Capital Partners.
