By Devika Patel

Knoxville, Tenn., May 12 - Jefferies International Ltd. said in a press release that Frank Sekula has joined the firm's investment banking division as a managing director and head of recapitalization and restructuring for Europe.

Sekula has more than 18 years of industry experience and has been involved in a number of recapitalization and restructuring transactions for European clients including Fiat, ABB, m-real, Avis Europe, Laurel Pub Co., Waterford Wedgwood, Mosaic Fashions, EMI and TI Automotive.

Sekula spent one year with Kaupthing restructuring its European debt and principal investments business and nine years at Barclays Capital, where he was head of high-yield capital markets and held other debt recapitalization and restructuring roles. He began his career in New York with Bankers Trust, CS First Boston and PaineWebber.

Sekula has a bachelor's degree in commerce from the University of Virginia.

Jefferies said it was involved in more than 40 restructuring and recapitalization assignments in 2008 concerning debt of over $50 billion. Recent mandates include New Star, Nortel Networks, Pliant and Vita Group.

Last month, Frank Jung joined Jefferies from Goldman Sachs as a managing director of the firm's recapitalization and restructuring team in Germany, and, earlier this year, Hal Kennedy and Leon Szlezinger joined as managing directors based in New York.

Jefferies is a securities and investment banking firm with offices in London and New York.
