Knoxville, Tenn., July 15 - Jenner & Block announced in a press release that it hired bankruptcy lawyers Marc B. Hankin and Heather D. McArn in the firm's New York office.

Hankin began working as a partner for the firm on July 14, and McArn will start as special counsel on Aug. 4.

Hankin had been counsel in the bankruptcy and reorganization group of Shearman & Sterling in New York. He had worked at that firm since joining as an associate in 1994. Between 1992 and 1994, he was a law clerk for chief judge Burton R. Lifland of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

Hankin received his J.D., with honors, from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1992 and his bachelor's degree from Yale College in 1989.

McArn just completed a clerkship for judge Arthur J. Gonzalez in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. Between 2004 and 2006, she was a court advocate for victims of domestic violence in Birmingham, Ala. Before that, McArn was an associate for several years in the bankruptcy and reorganization department of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison in New York. Between 1994 and 1996, she was a law clerk to Lifland in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

McArn received her J.D., cum laude, from Vermont Law School in 1992. She received a master's degree in urban planning from Columbia University in 1988 and a bachelor's degree in political economy from Tulane University in 1986.

"The addition of Marc and Heather to our New York office will add significant experience to our growing bankruptcy, workout and corporate reorganization practice," managing partner Susan C. Levy said in the release.

Jenner & Block is a New York-based law firm.
