Cantor Fitzgerald bolsters debt capital markets team

Chicago, March 7 - Cantor Fitzgerald & Co. said it strengthened the firm's global fixed income team with several key appointments.

Chief among them, the company promoted Shawn Matthews as executive managing director, heading the firm's debt capital markets group.

"Customer service is our watchword," Matthews said. "Our unwavering focus on meeting each customer's unique needs and relentlessly building out our distribution model are the keys to our performance and growth."

Other key appointments include Jim Bond as chief operating officer; Brian Edmonds as senior managing director, primary dealership; William Lawhorn as senior managing director, agency securities; Scott Moore as senior managing director, mortgage securities; Tom Sapio as senior managing director, repos; and Carmine Urciuoli as senior managing director, credit products.

"The deep experience and strong customer relationships of this exceptional management team have been key factors in our achieving year-over-year growth of more than 70%," Howard W. Lutnick, Cantor's chairman and chief executive officer, said in a press release.

"Added to the depth and breadth of their knowledge and skills, we have a sales force uniquely capable of meeting our customers' needs and delivering unbiased advice and service in these turbulent markets," Lutnick said.

Cantor Fitzgerald said it continues to aggressively expand its debt capital markets team, adding nine senior capital markets veterans to its fixed income sales and trading business.

Joining the debt capital markets group as managing directors are Suzie Demer, Los Angeles; Carl Schref, Chicago; John Maunsell, Chicago; Duane Erickson, Chicago; Donald Chisholm, Boca Raton, Fla.; and Thomas R. Elliot, Charlotte, N.C.

Chisholm will focus on high-yield, distressed debt and structured products. He comes to the firm from BB&T Capital where was senior vice president and helped create and structure the high-yield group and traded high-yield distressed debt and private placements.

Also joining the group are Lorraine Tristano, Shrewsbury, N.J.; Bradley Fetzer, New York; and Nick Onesto in Los Angeles.

Tristano will work on high-yield and distressed securities sales. She has more than 15 years' industry experience, including positions with JPMorgan Securities where she focused on high-yield sales.

Fetzer has more than 10 years' industry experience and joins the firm after working at Societe Generale. He will focus on high-yield and distressed debt sales.
