Vinson & Elkins adds six to insolvency and reorganization practice

Pittsburgh, Aug. 13 - International law firm Vinson & Elkins LLP has added six new lawyers to its insolvency and reorganization law practice in New York and Houston, according to a news release.

Denis Cronin, Jane Vris and Dov Kleiner of Cronin & Vris will join the firm's New York office as partners on Aug. 20, and J. Ronald Trost and Larry Cherkis, also of Cronin & Vris, will come to Vinson & Elkins as counsel in the New York office.

According to the release, Cronin, Vris, Kleiner and Cherkis were formerly with Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, and Trost is a past chair of the National Bankruptcy Conference and one of the primary architects of the current U.S. Bankruptcy Code.

In addition, Harry Perrin, co-head of the energy-focused investment bank Petrie Parkman's Restructuring Business and a former bankruptcy partner at the law firm Weil Gotshal & Manges, will join Vinson's Houston office as a partner.

Cronin is a graduate of Fordham University School of Law, will be co-chair of Vinson's Insolvency and Reorganization Practice Group, and will be active in the firm's management and leadership decision-making, especially as it applies to expanding the firm's New York office.

He has been named by Best Lawyers in America for more than 20 consecutive years.

Vris is a 1983 graduate of New York University Law School. She was a founding partner of Cronin & Vris. She is a member of the National Bankruptcy Conference and has been a long-time contributing editor to Colliers on Bankruptcy.

Perrin is a 1980 graduate of the University of Houston School of Law and co-headed Petrie Parkman's Restructuring Business from 2001 to 2006, when it was purchased by Merrill Lynch.

Kleiner received his MBA and law degree from Columbia University in 1994. He was a partner Cronin & Vris.

Trost, who received his law degree at the University of Texas, is considered one of the fathers of the modern U.S. Bankruptcy Code, having been one of its chief architects and proponents in 1978.

He has served as chairman of the National Bankruptcy Conference from 1996 until 2004.

Cherkis graduated from New York University School of Law, chaired the Real Estate Law Practice at Wachtell, Lipton for many years and recently has been counsel at Cronin & Vris.
