Plainfield Asset Management hires Walper as head of corporate restructuring

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, July 17 - Plainfield Asset Management LLC has hired Thomas B. Walper as a managing director and head of corporate restructuring, effective Aug. 1, according to a company news release.

Plainfield said Walper comes to the firm from Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP, where he was a partner and the head of its bankruptcy and restructuring group.

According to the release, Walper has twice been recognized by Turnaround and Workouts magazine as one of the country's top 12 bankruptcy lawyers.

He received a B.S. in 1976 and an M.B.A. in 1977 from the University of Southern California and a J.D. in 1980 from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles.

"We view bankruptcies and restructurings as one of our core competencies," Plainfield founder and chief investment officer Max Holmes said in the release.

"We are privileged to have someone with Tom's reputation and depth of experience as our head of corporate restructuring and, as the cycle changes, we expect to be active."

Plainfield is a Greenwich, Conn.-based investment adviser.
