The six new hires will significantly expand Barclays Capital's financial sponsor capabilities, especially on the West Coast, where they will be part of the firm's growing Los Angeles operations, the bank said.

"We are fortunate to add such talented professionals to our growing team," Rick Van Zijl, managing director and co-head of U.S. leveraged finance, said in a pres release. "These key hires will play a major role in expanding our overall leveraged finance franchise. They bring with them a wealth of valuable experience and relationships."

Iantuono most recently was a managing director and co-head of Credit Suisse's investment banking division's Los Angeles office. He received his MBA from the University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business. The five other new hires will report to Iantuono.

•Darrick Geant, who joins the firm as an associate director. Geant most recently was a vice president in Credit Suisse's investment banking division's Los Angeles office. He received his bachelor of arts with honors in business administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.

•Elaine Kao, who joins the firm as an associate. Kao, most recently, was an associate in Credit Suisse's investment banking division's Los Angeles office. She received her MBA from Wharton.
