American Capital Strategies appoints Gallaher as distressed debt managing director

Pittsburgh, March 7 - American Capital Strategies Ltd. appointed Brendan Gallaher as managing director in its distressed debt group, according to a company news release.

The company said Gallaher brings more than 20 years of experience in the distressed arena, and he will build a team of investment professionals within the distressed debt group in American Capital's Los Angeles office.

Before joining American Capital, Gallaher was on the executive committee and investment committee of William E. Simon & Sons, overseeing private equity, real estate and special situations investments, and he managed domestic and offshore distressed funds as president of William E. Simon & Sons Special Situations.

Before that, he coordinated workouts and established and managed a global distressed proprietary fund for Bank of America.

Gallaher holds a Bachelor of Arts with honors in economics from the College of William and Mary and a Master of Arts with honors and a Master of Law with honors from Cambridge University.

America Capital is a Bethesda, Md.-based publicly traded alternative asset manager.
