New JVB Financial Structured Products website to aid broker-dealers and investors

By LLuvia Mares

New York, Nov. 5 - On Monday JVB Financial Structured Products launched a website geared toward assisting broker-dealers and investors in dissecting and understanding the variety of structured products available in the market.

The website was invented as a tool to educate market individuals on reverse convertible products, principal-protected products and commodity-linked deals as well as other popular structures.

"The more resources we can give them the better equipped they will be to sell our products and the better off the market will be in general," said Steve Peters, company senior vice president and manager of the structured products desk.

The new website features JVB's current offerings, secondary offerings, educational resources, a how to invest section, as well as past offerings for viewers to refer to when planning their own products.

"On the products section of the website you will see a very detailed explanation on how reverse convertibles work and on the variety of structured notes available," Peters said.

The website also lists helpful tips in review brochures provided by the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD).

"Broker-dealers using our website can call and ask us for copies of the brochures and we will provide them copies of so they can use with their clients," said Peters. "There are also copies of the reviews which can be accessed through the site."

Peters said the company's main goal for the website at the start of summer was education and providing resources. Now that the goal has been accomplished, Peters said the next step is providing the broker-dealer community with online training courses in order to arm them with more knowledge on the products before they go out into the field.

"At the end of the course participants will receive certificates," he said, regarding the online courses. "Retail representatives will be able to actually read the information and test their knowledge. They will be able to give their compliance officer a completed certificate that says they took the course and they understand how these products work so that their firm feels that their representatives are more equipped to sell the products."

JVB expects to have a full schedule of online courses and a list of new structured products sometime in 2008.

The website is at www.JVBStructuredProducts.com.
