NewStar Financial opens Chicago office

New York, May 24 - NewStar Financial has opened an office in Chicago, expanding its operating presence to five cities in key markets, according to a company news release.

The Chicago office will be led by managing director Ira Kreft, who joins NewStar from Bank of America Business Capital, where he was executive vice president and manager of the Central Group.

NewStar's other offices are located in Boston - where it is based - San Francisco, Darien, Conn., and Charleston, S.C.

"Moving into the Chicago market makes perfect sense for NewStar, both from a strategic and operational perspective," said Tim Conway, chief executive officer of NewStar, in the release.

"With five offices across the country, a growing team of exceptional bankers and two years of very strong performance, NewStar is well-positioned for continued success in the middle market."
