American Bankruptcy Institute elects new officers, board members

Pittsburgh, April 26 - The American Bankruptcy Institute elected new officers and members of its board of directors at its annual spring meeting, according to a company news release.

New members of the executive committee and new officers include judge Wesley Steen of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of the Southern District of Texas, president, one-year term, succeeding John Penn of Haynes & Boone LLP; Reggie Jackson of Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP, president-elect, to become president in April 2007; Michael P. Richman of Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP, succeeds Bettina M. Whyte of MBIA Insurance Corp. as chairman of the board for a one-year term.

Also, Robert J. Keach of Bernstein, Shur was named to a two-year term as vice president, education, succeeding Neil P. Olack, who will become a bankruptcy judge in Mississippi, and James Patrick Shea of Shea & Carlyon, Ltd. was named to a one-year term as an executive committee member-at-large.

Nine new members were elected to the board of directors, including Peter J. Antoszyk of Brown Rudnick Berlack Israels LLP; Rudy J. Cerone of McGlinchey Stafford, PLLC; Norma C. Corio of JP Morgan; Jonathan P. Friedland of Kirkland & Ellis LLP; Margaret Howard of Washington & Lee University Law School; Bruce S. Nathan of Lowenstein Sandler PC; Claire Ann Resop of Brennan, Steil & Basting, SC; Tracy C. Sandler of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP and Ian G. Williams of Geldards LLP.

Directors reappointed for another three-year term include Mitchell E. Drucker of CIT Group Inc.; judge James D. Gregg, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Michigan; Robert J. Keach of Bernstein, Shur; George M. Kelakos of Kelakos Advisors LLC; James T. Markus of Block Markus Williams, LLC; Patricia A. Redmond of Stearns, Weaver et al. PA; judge Steven W. Rhodes of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Michigan; Robert J. Rosenberg of Latham & Watkins LLP; Joseph Samet of Baker & McKenzie; Anthony H.N. Schnelling of Bridge Associates LLC; James Patrick Shea of Shea & Carlyon, Ltd.; Lynnette Warman of Jenkens & Gilchrist, PC and judge Eugene R. Wedoff of U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
