By Laura Lutz
Des Moines, Oct. 25 - Cowen and Co. hired Robert Roden as a managing director and head of the company's new leveraged finance group.
Roden was previously head of structured/leveraged finance at Merriman Curhan Ford & Co. Before that, he had been co-head and a founding member of Banc of America mezzanine capital and worked with Finova mezzanine capital and CS First Boston's high yield debt group.
Roden will be based in San Francisco and will report to Graham Powis, head of equity capital markets.
"Rob's hiring represents a key step forward as Cowen expands its product offerings. With his extensive knowledge of leveraged finance and strong leadership skills, we are delighted to have him join our team," Powis said.
Cowen is an investment bank with headquarters in New York.
