Highland Capital Management acquires ING Capital Management
By Caroline Salls
Pittsburgh, April 5 - Highland Capital Management LP said it acquired ING Capital Management Ltd. from ING Wholesale Banking.
ING is the investment adviser for the Copernicus Euro CDO-I BV and Copernicus Euro CDO-II BV funds.
"This acquisition creates real benefits for our investors," Highland chief investment officer Mark Okada said in a company news release.
"Copernicus' investors benefit from Highland's greater CLO [collateralized loan obligation] management resources and demonstrated ability to deliver industry leading performance; Highland's investors gain enhanced access to Europe's rapidly developing leveraged finance market."
As part of the transaction, ING Capital Management was renamed Highland Capital Management Europe Ltd.
Stephen Williams will be the company's portfolio manager.
Prior to joining ING Capital Management, Williams was a partner with New York Life Capital Markets. At ING, his responsibilities included raising and managing funds focused on private placements, mezzanine debt and buyout-related private equity investments.
Highland is a Dallas-based privately held registered investment adviser. ING is an institutional alternative investment manager.
