Jefferies hires high-yield research analyst Brett Levy

Pittsburgh, July 27 - Jefferies & Co. Inc., the principal operating subsidiary of Jefferies Group Inc., added Brett M. Levy as a senior research analyst, managing director and co-director of high-yield research, according to a company news release.

Levy will cover the metals sector as well as co-manage the firm's high yield research effort with Robert J. Welch. Jefferies' current director of high-yield research, Mark C. Neuner, will retire at the end of the year.

During the past year, the firm has committed significant resources to this area in investment banking, sales and trading and research, the release said. With the addition of Levy, Jefferies now has 14 high-yield research professionals, including seven senior analysts.

Levy has been a high-yield analyst for more than 17 years and has covered companies in the metals sector for more than 12. He has made the Institutional Investor analyst rankings eight times for his coverage of the metals sector, including six times as a Second Team All-American.

Prior to Jefferies, Levy was a managing director and head of high-yield research at RBC Capital Markets. Previously, he held similar positions at Credit Suisse First Boston and BT Securities/BT Alex Brown.

Levy received his masters degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Sloan School of Management and his bachelors degree at Boston University School of Management.

Levy will be based in Jefferies' Stamford, Conn., office.

Jefferies is a New York-based global investment bank and institutional securities firm.
