By Reshmi Basu
New York, July 8 - Research firm IDEAglobal promoted Alberto Bernal to head of Latin America research. Also, Lawrence Krohn will be joining the Latin American team as senior Latin America economist.
With more than 20 years of emerging market experience, Krohn will be responsible for covering Brazil, Venezuela and smaller Latin American credits.
Prior to joining IDEAglobal, Krohn was managing director and head of Latin America debt strategy/economics at ING Capital for three years. He was also chief economist for Latin America at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and managing director at UBS for four years. He has also held academic appointments. He has a PhD in economics from Columbia University.
"Larry's impressive academic background will reinforce IDEAglobal's high quality research and analysis and his widespread base of contacts in the region will elevate even further IDEAglobal's presence and influence over Latin American issues," said John Davitte, head of emerging markets, in a news release.
Bernal was previously Latin America economist.
