ING names Condon head of Asian financial markets research

By Reshmi Basu

New York, March 16 - Tim Condon has been named the head of ING's financial markets research for Asia, according to a news release.

Condon will direct the economic research for the region including local currencies, U.S. dollar bonds, sovereigns and corporate credits.

With this appointment, corporate credit and sovereign research are merged into a single unit.

"As Asia develops, we are seeing a growing universe of high-grade corporate bonds to add to the higher yielding credits in the region," said Condon in the release.

"In providing research that encompasses all the region's credits, we will be able to advise investors of the best opportunities, supporting portfolio construction requirements, while understanding the dynamics of the risk environment in which the corporates operate."

Previously Condon was chief economist at ING.

Prior to joining the company in 1999, Condon was the executive director and senior regional economist for Morgan Stanley.

Condon started his career as an economist with the World Bank.
