Deutsche Bank names Ghezzi head of Latin America strategy

By Reshmi Basu

New York, March 11 - Deutsche Bank named Piero Ghezzi as the head of Latin America strategy, according to a news release.

Ghezzi will direct the bank's analysis on both external and local markets debt in Latin America, including foreign exchange, local bonds and fixed-income derivatives.

"By utilizing his strong economic background and extensive financial knowledge, he has pioneered innovative products and broken new ground in emerging markets research," said David Sekiguchi, global head of emerging market strategy, in a news release.

"As local markets continue to develop and investment opportunities increase, Piero's new function reflects the firm's expectations for continued business growth throughout Latin America."

Prior to this move, Ghezzi was the head of sovereign strategy at Deutsche Bank. He will remain in the New York office.

Ghezzi joined the emerging markets research department on 1999.

Prior to that, he was an Assistant Professor of International Macroeconomics at Johns Hopkins University and a consultant for the Inter-American Bank for Development.

Ghezzi holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley and an A.S.C. from the Kiel Institute of World Economics in Germany.
