Lehman hires Shapiro to co-head restructuring group
New York, Sept. 4 - Lehman Brothers said it hired Mark J. Shapiro as managing director and co-head of the global restructuring group in its investment banking division.
Shapiro will co-head the business with Gilbert W. Sanborn, who formed the group when he joined the firm last year, Lehman said.
Both will report to Robert D. Redmond, head of the leveraged finance group, and Steven B. Wolitzer, head of global M&A.
Shapiro was previously co-head of Shearman & Sterling's bankruptcy and restructuring group.
Lehman said the co-heads will continue to expand its activities in advising clients on out-of-court and Chapter 11 financial and strategic restructurings and on Chapter 11 debtor-in-possession and exit financings.
