Goldman hires Archer as chief underwriting officer
New York, July 17 - Goldman, Sachs & Co. hired William W. Archer to the new position of chief underwriting officer for global credit products in the firm's Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities Division.
Archer's appointment comes as Goldman is integrating its investment-grade and high-yield bond businesses with its lending activities into a single origination, sales and trading platform.
Goldman said Archer will "apply his significant credit and transaction experience to the firm's capital commitment and due diligence efforts, with a focus on providing innovative financing structures to clients."
Archer was previously at Deutsche Bank, where was most recently co-global head of non-investment grade debt underwriting.
"Hiring someone of Bill Archer's caliber underscores the firm's deep commitment to our credit franchise," said Edward C. Forst, co-head of credit products at Goldman Sachs, in a press release. "Given our new integrated structure and by adding Bill to the team, we will have the tools in place to serve client needs across asset and product classes - and the entire credit spectrum - more efficiently and creatively."
