Cantor Fitzgerald adds convertible managing directors Conforti, Zapata

Norfolk, Va., May 7 - Cantor Fitzgerald & Co. announced that Jim Conforti and Steve Zapata have joined the firm as managing directors focused on convertible and other equity-linked securities, according to a press release.

"We are pleased to welcome Jim and Steve to the Cantor team," CEO Shawn P. Matthews said in the release.

"We are committed to hiring seasoned professionals like Jim and Steve, whose deep industry knowledge and long-standing client relationships add value to our global equities team. The convertible sector is an area of decided emphasis for us, and their appointment underscores our objective to provide our institutional clients with broad and diversified product offerings."

Conforti recently was vice president of convertible securities at Maxim Group, LLC. Earlier, he was a partner, senior convertible trader and senior sales professional at McMahan Securities Co. LP, Forum Capital Partners LLC and Hambrecht & Quist.

Zapata recently worked at Bloomberg Tradebook LLC where he managed a group that created profitable execution models for various classes of securities. Previously, he held senior positions at SG Cowen, Wachovia, Susquehanna International Group LLP and Seaport Securities Corp.

Cantor Fitzgerald is a New York-based financial services firm.
