JMP adds Edward Weld as investment banking division managing director

By Tali Rackner

Norfolk, Va., May 2 - JMP Group Inc. announced that Edward K. Weld has joined JMP Securities as a managing director in its investment banking division, according to a press release.

Based in the firm's New York office, he will concentrate on the origination of debt capital markets transactions.

"Ted brings extensive leveraged finance experience with him to JMP, and he will work alongside managing director Bard Cook to provide corporate clients with insight on balance sheet-related issues and guidance on debt capital-raising matters," director of investment banking Kent Ledbetter said in the release. "We see the debt capital markets as an important growth driver for our investment banking platform, and we look forward to Ted's contributions on that front."

Weld previously served in the special situations group at Deutsche Bank Securities, where he oversaw direct equity investments as well as investments in senior loans, subordinated debt and asset-backed securities. Earlier, he was head of the financial sponsor coverage team at Stephens and a founder of Royal Bank of Canada's leveraged capital effort, a merchant banking and asset management strategy.

JMP is a San Francisco-based investment banking and asset management firm.
