BNP appoints David Gilio, L.J. McKay to Merchant Banking Group

By Tali Rackner

Minneapolis, July 30 - BNP Paribas Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) announced the appointments of two managing directors to further enhance its Merchant Banking Group in the Americas, according to a notice.

David Gilio will lead the group's technology/media/telecom team, and L.J. McKay will be a generalist team leader. They are both based in New York and report to Bucky Khan, head of Merchant Banking Group, Americas.

"We have been a consistent leader in providing acquisition and buyout financing as left hand lead/bookrunner for the middle market for over three decades," Khan said in the release.

"I am happy to have David and L.J. join our team as they bring invaluable expertise to BNP Paribas and will be key players in the growth of the firm's Merchant Banking Group."

Before joining BNP Paribas, Gilio was responsible for originating M&A and capital raising opportunities with middle-market corporate and private equity firms at several boutique investment banking platforms, including Burnham Securities Inc. and Princeridge Group LLC. He has covered leveraged finance and the M&A technology/media/telecom market for over 20 years.

McKay has 17 years of investment banking experience including originating and executing IPOs, leveraged finance and M&A transactions for corporations and private equity firms. Before joining BNP Paribas, McKay was with Stifel Nicolaus & Co. Inc.'s financial sponsors' group where he covered middle-private equity firms. Prior to that, he worked for the Quadrangle Group, Bank of America and DLJ/Credit Suisse.

BNP's Merchant Banking Group provides acquisition and buy-out financing.
